Ancient Maya city of Tikal is located in the department of Petén in the north of Guatemala. Coordinates: 16°54′N 89°54′W
Its weather is very humid and is mostly jungle area. Temperature varies between 12 and 40 °C (54 and 104 °F). the department's population is about 663,000 inhabitants. Mundo Maya International airport is available at Santa Elena.
Wild animal reserves and many Mayan archaeological sites are located there, being Tikal among the biggest and best preserved Mayan sites.
Most tourist stay at Flores; a small island located at the Petén Itzá lake next to Santa Elena town.

Guatemalas territory has more than 34 volcanoes in its own territory, and you can summit most of them except those currently erupting. Among its more iconic hikes are Volcan de Agua, Volcan Acatenango, Volcan de Pacaya, Volcan Atitlán, Volcan San Pedro, Volcan Zunil, Tacaná and Tajumulco. But there are many more you can hike as well.

Visit Antigua Guatemala's 3rd City' settlement. Visit a colonial style house (prearranged only), the colonial Museum at one of the first Universities in the Americas, Main plaza, The Cathedral, Calle del Arco, La Merced and its fountain, Santa Clara ruines, Tanque la Unión, Cerro La Cruz.
Lodging: you can stay at its innumerable hotels for all price range, or rent a property at one of its colonial style houses. Also, the variety of food and restaurants is international.
La Antigua Guatemala

Lake Atitlan, among the most beautiful in the world, is a place to relax and destress yourself. There are about 12 town around the lake, each with its own unique atmosphere, and its own interests. The most known town among others are: Panajachel (usually you arrive to Pana when you go to the lake.) Santa Cruz, San Juan, Santa Clara, San Pedro, Santiago Atitlán, Toliman, San Marco...
You can stay at almost any of the above, some with hotels, others by renting a property.
The main way to reach these towns is by boat. You can get there in public boat, private boat and some by are reach by land.
